Hello, thank you for taking the time to read.
My name is Colin, I am 47 and originally from Manchester. I am a personal trainer with a bit of a medical background, I'm also a qualified sports massage therapist and a nutritional therapist. I have been vegan for 10 years now and regularly fast, both of which help me hugely in my life. I really enjoy helping other people to improve their health and fitness. I have good empathy, am approachable, non-judgemental and always respectful of other peoples lifestyle choices. I will aim to make our sessions fun, interesting, challenging and achievable.
How can I help you? Working together, through a combination of exercise, nutrition advice, measurements, encouragement, education and support, I can help you to achieve your fitness goals. I can also advise with regards to any sports injuries that you may currently have. As well as physical improvements, there are also psychological gains to be had, such as: improved confidence, improved self-efficacy, heightened mood and a positive outlook towards new challenges.
A little bit more about me. I gained a BSc (Hons) in Applied Health Studies from St George's Hospital Medical School in 2015. This involved completing 5 physiotherapy placements which were musculoskeletal (MSK) outpatients, sports MSK, paediatrics, neurology and oncology. Since university I have worked at Charlton Athletic FC as a physiotherapy assistant in the football academy, at YMCA Cambridge as a personal trainer and in Lewisham NHS, designing and facilitating group exercise sessions for children on a child weight management program. I have been with YourPT since 2018 in Hackney, Bexley and Greenwich. I have always had a passion for education, health and helping others. I enjoy reading scientific papers and like to pass on the latest information to my clients and friends. I have also gained qualifications in personal training and fitness instructing, nutritional therapy, youth exercise, senior (elderly) fitness, sports massage and behaviour change coaching.

I had a few sessions with Colin, an amazing person and professional. He built my workout programme, explained how to perform each exercise, corrected my mistakes, and provided some useful advice. I definitely recommend him.

Where do I start! First of all, walking into a gym was so far out of my comfort zone I find it incredible that I managed it in the first place but Colin was there to greet and reassure me. I am 62 years old with bad knees and a bad back. I am also overweight. I've just completed my first 10 sessions with Colin and I am starting to feel the benefit already. Colin will only go at my pace and will always check that I am feeling good about the session. I have now booked my next 10 sessions.

I have Kyphosis and Colin has worked with me on exercises that are helping to improve my posture, particularly through balance and core stability. I appreciate Colin's quiet and soft spoken professionalism and have noticed improvements since we have started the sessions. His initial focus is on understanding your general fitness and abilities and then tailoring sessions for the individual, with a targeted focus on different areas. In the process I feel I have improved my posture and become both stronger and leaner. He is very passionate about what he does and is easy to work with. If you are thinking about getting a PT I would highly recommend Colin.

I have been working on my fitness with Colin for approx 12 weeks now and it’s the best thing I’ve done. I got really lazy during lockdown, losing motivation, fitness and noticed a decline in health. Since working with Colin I have seen a huge improvement in my fitness and health and he has given me both structure and great advice. He is patient, knowledgeable and easy to work with. I really like the way he applies both the science and fitness elements into each workout. I feel much healthier and motivated to stay fit and highly recommend getting Colin into your life if you want to get fitter!!

My main goal was to get back to being fit as I have a long term condition affecting my joints , I have lost my confidence to train over the last few years. Colin has been really good in terms of encouraging me and motivated me to work towards achieving my goals. I have already seen changes with my general cardio real fitness and I am aware I have a long way to go but Colin have provided me with some plans for ongoing training in my personal space and also when I am in gym by myself which is brilliant. He is very considerate and works well with your needs and I would highly recommend him!

Colin is an AWESOME trainer! He listens, he’s responsive and he knows A LOT! He has managed to create workouts that are challenging yet accommodate complex injuries and rehabilitation. He makes them fun and also helps a lot with mindset. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I never imagined I could enjoy a gym session but I really am!

I have been working with Colin for an about 6 weeks and have seen such an improvement. I came to him wanting to build my confidence in the gym and build some sort of a plan that I could go off do on my own. I expected it to be fairly straightforward but Colin made me realise there’s more to fitness than just lifting weights and running on the treadmill. He has helped me work on my balance and stability as well as my cardiovascular system and muscle. Even after coming back from a throat infection, Colin was supportive and patient - always pushing me but not too far. I highly recommend him! :)

I highly recommend Colin, I have been with him about 3 months now and have lost a stone and half in weight. He has helped me feel more confident within the gym environment. Building routines that will help me to be more flexible and react quicker in my job role, as well as cardio and weights too. He pushes you just enough beyond your limit to get the best out of you. Gives praise on a good work out performance. If it wasn't for Colin I'd cheat and not turn up. So thank you Colin.

I have been working with Colin for a while now and enjoy every session with him. On occasion when I am not in the right frame of mind or contemplate cancelling I never regret my session with him, he always manages to make me feel good about myself and I come away feeling great. He is very professional, friendly and easy to talk to and I find him very calming.
Colin has a wealth of knowledge in lots of different areas, he plans the sessions to suit the person he is training and it consists of lots of variety and he always ensures I never get bored.

I would highly recommend Colin. I have been training with him for a couple of months now and my goal was to become stronger and improve my balance following several injuries and surgery.
Colin has helped me to improve in all areas mentioned above and also with toning and weight loss.
He provides a good balance of driving me forward to increase my confidence and ability whilst being flexible and understanding.

I wanted to leave Colin a review as he has been key to help me get back on track. After the lockdowns and some personal stuff over the past couple of years I had lost all motivation for exercising and training, but I wanted to go back to it as I used to enjoy it so much and was hoping for support, a bit of being pushed and variety so I wouldn’t get bored. He understood the assignment and thanks to Colin’s varied plans I stopped dreading going to the gym and started to look forward to see what he had planned for the next training session. He’s professional, very knowledgeable and friendly yet not overly friendly that you can talk him out of training, I tried! I also liked that he always keeps in mind the essentials: form, core and exercising correctly, rather than just pushing you to your limit and beyond, just to make you feel that you’re exercising a lot, even if the exercises are not correctly executed, which can lead to injuries.
All in all, he helped me get my fitness back as well as find the enjoyment of it again in a healthy way.

I've been working with Colin for a few months and I can recommend him enough. Colin's expertise, experience and passion shine through and he tailors each session to suit my needs and goals. Not only is he approachable and empathetic, he's also very friendly. Even if you've not worked out before Colin is patient and happy to guide you through the training process. He is always ready to explain the why behind each exercise which helps you to understand the bigger picture. I've seen great results so far and after not training for a couple of years I'm already feeling stronger and fitter. If you're considering investing in personal training sessions I would highly recommend Colin!
