Celebrating Rob Faulkner: August's Personal Trainer of the Month
From Construction Worker to Fitness Inspiration
In the world of personal training, there are those who stand out not just for their expertise but for their incredible journey to becoming fitness professionals. Rob Faulkner, our August Personal Trainer of the Month, is one such exceptional individual. Let's dive into Rob's inspiring background, his path to personal training, the obstacles he's conquered, and why he's so passionate about changing lives through fitness.
From Construction to Fitness: Rob's Unique Journey
Before he became a personal trainer, Rob Faulkner's life revolved around a vastly different field – construction. For a remarkable 26 years, he worked tirelessly in the construction industry, tackling hard landscaping and house building. But amidst the hustle and bustle of this demanding career, Rob always held a passion for running. He wasn't just casually jogging; he was a dedicated runner, pushing his limits by participating in races ranging from 10k to the ultimate challenge, a 100-mile race.
Rob's dedication to running was a testament to his drive and determination. However, his journey into personal training was a pivotal shift that would change the lives of many.
Rob's Journey into Personal Training: A Leap of Faith
Rob's transition from construction to personal training didn't happen overnight. It was a journey paved with passion and a genuine desire to help others achieve their fitness goals. He began by integrating outdoor fitness classes with personal training sessions at his local common.
But it was in September 2019 that Rob's path took a new direction when he secured a contract with YOUR Personal Training, based at Hatfield Leisure Centre in Hatfield, UK. Little did he know that a few months later, the world would face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Overcoming Obstacles: Rob's Resilience Shines Through
The COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for personal trainers like Rob. Encouraging clients to return to the gym, ensuring strict social distancing, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness were monumental tasks. To add to the complexity, Rob was self-employed, making the situation even more daunting.
But Rob's determination and the unwavering support from YOUR Personal Training and his mentor, Sean, proved to be invaluable. They provided regular updates, newsletters, and offers to help personal trainers like him continue their professional growth. Sean's support through visits, phone calls, and Zoom meetings fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among trainers.
The Love for Being a Personal Trainer: Changing Lives, One Client at a Time
When asked why he loves being a personal trainer, Rob's response is heartwarming. There's no single reason, he says, because every day in this profession is a rewarding journey. Working with people of all ages and abilities, he witnesses small but profound transformations in their lives.
For Rob, it's the simple things – like a client regaining the ability to stand up from a chair, put away their groceries, or climb the stairs with ease – that make a world of difference. He cherishes the moments when he sees his clients achieve things they once thought impossible, like participating in a 10k wheelchair race after years of hesitation.
Rob Faulkner's journey from construction to personal training is a testament to the power of following your passion and the joy of helping others achieve their fitness dreams. As our August Personal Trainer of the Month, Rob's story inspires us all to embrace change and keep pushing our boundaries, just like he did on those 100-mile runs.
